The Missions Committee serves the church by coordinating various missions-related activities, increasing awareness of ongoing missions work among the congregation, and looking into the welfare of missionaries supported by GMC.
The internal statement of the Missions Committee is to have a congregation with a heart for missions, enriched by the ministries of ongoing generations of missionaries. To achieve this, the Committee encourages members to pray, give and go for missions. The Committee works with missions agencies to reach out to others in a cross-cultural setting, as part of the ultimate goal to partner God in His mission to the world.

Thung Yao Church Building Project
The Thung Yao Preaching Point (TYPP) ministry is an initiative pioneer by Pastor Cassandra Lee Boon Eng (a missionary sends by GMC to Thailand in 2012) when she responded to God’s calling to start a children ministry in Chiangmai, Thailand some 12 years ago.
Pastor Cassandra Lee went to serve at TTYP upon the invitation from the PIC of Shineforth Methodist Church in Chiangmai. She is to take charge of and start a children’s club which is called Padi Club. The responses to the club have been very encouraging. The parents of the children and the village head are happy to see their children more filial, responsible, and obedient in their building of characters.
In order for the ministry to grow, the culture in Thailand is that there need to be a physical presence, like a building to cultivate a sense of belonging and a means for witnessing. That is why you see so many temples in Thailand, not only in big cities center but also in remote villages.
The Methodist Missions Society (MMS) has invited GMC to partner in the church building project because it is a ministry started by Pastor Cassandra ministry and she is a GMC sent missionary.
The estimated total building budget is $278,000.
MMS will raise 50% of the budget ($139,000) and GMC 40% ($111,000) and the local church 10% ($28,000).
We hope to raise the full sum of $111,000 at the latest by the end of 2025.
Let us all chip in (financially or/and mentor in ministry) to lay the foundation for a GMC daughter church in Chiang Mai. This would be GMC first foray into an offshore ministry (like Paul’s first missionary journey to Antioch).
We look forward to your generous support and donations. Your support can make a powerful difference as we continue to work together to build a daughter church in Chiangmai.
