Why Are We Upgrading?
Renewing our church for the years ahead
GMC has worshipped at Telok Blangah since 1998. After nearly three decades, many of the building’s core mechanical and electrical systems are ageing significantly. Many are more than 15 years old, with some approaching 30 years.
Major systems, including the air-conditioning and electrical wiring, run throughout the building. Continuing to repair or replace individual components will no longer be sufficient or cost-effective. A comprehensive upgrading is needed to renew the building’s infrastructure.
In the Bible, the language of building often points not only to physical structures, but to the strengthening of God’s people. As we seek to renew our church home, we also pray that God will build up His church by deepening our worship, strengthening our fellowship and shaping us for His purposes.
As works will be required throughout the building, we are also taking the opportunity to improve how our spaces are configured and used. The upgrading will create a more welcoming, accessible and flexible church home – one that can better support worship, discipleship and community.
This upgrading is both necessary and hopeful: a practical and physical renewal of our church home, and an opportunity to prepare this home for worship, discipleship, community and mission.
